InterTrust Launches Rights Mobile Client at 3GSM World Congress 2002

New DRM Client Enables Trusted Mobile Computing Over Wireless Networks

     CANNES, France, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
InterTrust Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ITRU), the leading provider of
patented trust computing technology, today unveiled the latest digital rights
management (DRM) technology for the mobile market. Rights|Mobile(TM) builds
on InterTrust's extensive portfolio of patented technology for trusted
computing and extends InterTrust's second generation Rights|System(TM) DRM
platform to the mobile market. Specifically focused on content protection,
this product enables mobile network operators and technology providers to
build content protection and management systems over wireless networks to
portable devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs. Rights|Mobile is the first
advanced DRM for next generation mobile phones based on Symbian OS.
Rights|Mobile is InterTrust's second DRM solution aimed at the mobile
market. Last year, InterTrust unveiled Rights|Phone, which offers DRM trusted
computing capabilities for handsets. Rights|Mobile is aimed at advanced
wireless devices and PDAs, devices that are information-centric with voice
capabilities. Rights|System supports multiple client types with a single
backend; InterTrust believes this offers a key advantage to network operators
and service providers. InterTrust has announced Rights|System clients for a
broad variety of portable device families, the Windows Operating System, and
now Symbian OS.
By combining InterTrust's patented technology with products such as the
Nokia 9210 Communicator, operators can securely transmit over wireless
networks text documents, digital music and video clips. At the 3GSM World
Congress in Cannes (Hall 3, Exhibit Stand J3), InterTrust is demonstrating how
Rights|Mobile works on the Nokia 9210 Communicator, an integrated mobile
multimedia device.
"We live in an increasingly mobile environment where the phone is rapidly
becoming both our primary communication and information device," said
Robert Wong, vice president of business development at InterTrust.
"Rights|Mobile can benefit a broad range of users from business executives
accessing confidential files securely over wireless networks to consumers
listening to digital music."
"Symbian is focused on providing an advanced, open operating system to
enable users of mobile phones to access a wide range of applications and
services," said Mark Wilce, vice president of product management at Symbian.
"Symbian OS -- coupled with InterTrust's DRM capabilities -- ensures that the
latest mobile phones can offer the security and stability the market demands."
