Comprehensive Trust Management Solution Eliminates Common Obstacles to Secure
eBusiness
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RSA CONFERENCE --
Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) (CA) today announced eTrust
PKI 2.0, an advanced, comprehensive security solution that enables
organizations to quickly and easily deploy Public Key Infrastructure -- an
essential component of secure eBusiness. By simplifying the implementation of
PKI, CA's eTrust PKI solution significantly reduces the costs associated with
deploying and administering electronic certificate technology, while also
enabling more rapid activation and de-activation of PKI-secured eBusiness
relationships.
eTrust PKI is so simple to use that many customers will be able to start
applying PKI to their existing eBusiness systems within an hour or less --
ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, strong authentication and
non-repudiation of their critical eBusiness communications and transactions.
In addition to speed of deployment, eTrust PKI offers unmatched
convenience and scalability. Unlike non-integrated PKI toolkits, eTrust PKI
comes with its own award-winning embedded directory for scalability and out-
of-the-box certificate publication. eTrust PKI also includes self-contained
OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) responder, which provides real-time
validation of participants' identities.
eTrust PKI 2.0 is helping the Arizona Department of Transportation's Motor
Vehicle Division (MVD) securely streamline business processes. "Arizona state
law allows authorized individuals to obtain driver's information by filling
out and signing a request form at an MVD office. This manual process is time
consuming and involves an MVD employee who could otherwise be helping other
customers," says Derek Rushing, CIO of Arizona Department of Transportation.
"eTrust PKI helps secure a web-based request form with digital certificates
that provide strong authentication and non-repudiation for unassisted 24 x 7
access."
eTrust PKI 2.0 also works seamlessly with other eTrust security
technologies, including eTrust Web Access Control, which is currently in beta
release, and eTrust Single Sign-On. The integration of eTrust PKI with these
solutions provides customers with a turnkey system for both web- and
client/server-based authentication.
"Information security managers can't waste a lot of time and money
knitting together an eCommerce solution with diverse products from multiple
vendors. Instead these managers need to control costs and administrative
overhead even as they optimize the security of their outward-facing business
processes," said Charles Kolodgy, Research Manager for Internet Security
Software at IDC. "That's why a pre-integrated solution like CA's eTrust PKI
will have considerable appeal to a broad market."
"We needed a secure control mechanism to regulate our business partners'
access to our software distribution center," said Chris Wering, president and
CEO of Cornerstone Solutions, a leading Midwest IT service provider. "eTrust
PKI fits our needs perfectly, giving us the ability to quickly grant
authorized users access to sensitive data as needed without driving our
security administration costs through the roof."
Like the rest of the eTrust family, eTrust PKI leverages "ca smart"
technology to enable integration with a wide range of third-party offerings.
"Gemplus has worked closely with CA to engineer out-of-the-box support for our
GemSafe cards into eTrust PKI," said Ron Elmore, senior vice president of
financial and security services, Americas, Gemplus, the world's leading smart
card solutions provider. "This combined solution offers a very attractive
value proposition to customers who want to provide highly-secure mobile
computing and communications capabilities to their end users."
"With its unique combination of comprehensive functionality and low
cost-of-ownership, CA's eTrust PKI 2.0 is a prime example of why CA remains
the worldwide eBusiness security management leader," said Barry Keyes CA's
vice president of eTrust solutions. "We have quickly and effectively
responded to our customers' primary security challenge -- which is to secure
their increasingly complex eBusiness environments against an increasingly
complex range of threats while conserving their limited budgets and staff
resources."
eTrust PKI 2.0 is scheduled for general release in April. Additional
