FOSE 2003 To Be Inaugural Event in The New Washington, DC Convention Center on April 8-10, 2003

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- FOSE 2003, the largest information
technology exposition serving the government marketplace, will be the first
tradeshow in the new Washington Convention Center. FOSE will run from April 8-
10, 2003 at the new space at 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW just one block from the
current convention center. FOSE has been held at the current Washington
Convention Center since the building opened in 1983.
Each year, FOSE gathers 18,000+ government professionals together with
400+ industry-leading exhibitors in a forum charged with industry-government
collaboration, executive-level policy briefings, and best-practice showcases
run by agencies from all levels of government -- local, state and federal --
that employ government's leading technology solutions. For more information
about FOSE, go to http://www.fose.com .
"FOSE is proud to strengthen its long-standing partnership with the
Washington Convention Center by producing the first tradeshow in the new
Convention Center," said Bill Howell, Executive Vice President for
PostNewsweek Tech Media and General Manager of FOSE. "FOSE and the Washington
Convention Center share a common goal: lasting impact. FOSE's impact is
realized through the public-private partnership that has for years offered
solutions to government's most vital technology challenges. The Convention
Center's impact will be felt throughout the region for years to come as our
nation's premiere meeting place."
The new Washington Convention Center, equipped with over 2.3 million
square feet of space and state of the art technology, will fully replace the
facility currently in use. The new Washington Convention Center projects $1.5B
in annual regional economic impact and will draw over 3 million people each
year. Visitors to the new Washington Convention Center will enjoy nationally
branded dining options, fiber-optic networking, advanced voice and data
services and even a ballroom large enough to seat 5,000. Metro access into
the new Convention Center will be via Yellow Line from a newly constructed Mt.
Vernon Square / Convention Center Station stop.
"FOSE's key markets, government and technology, make them an excellent fit
to open our new high-tech facility in the nation's capital," said Lewis H.
Dawley III, General Manager of the Washington Convention Center. "We are
pleased to have the foremost technology tradeshow for government unveil the
nation's premiere meeting place right here in our nation's capital. Not only
are we pleased to be partnering with FOSE for our first tradeshow, we look
forward to continuing a solid partnership for years to come."
FOSE will take advantage of the new Washington Convention Center by
showcasing a newly developed Homeland Security Center. The Homeland Security
Center, presented by Lockheed Martin, will display a mix of homeland security
solutions presently employed by various local, state and governmental
agencies. FOSE will also present a Small Business Pavilion to showcase the
solutions and applications available to government by designated small and
disadvantaged businesses.
The new Washington Convention Center will also enable FOSE to enhance its
current programs such as E-Town, a showcase of 25 of the leading citizen-
centered initiatives from local, state, federal and international agencies. E-
Town, presented by Accenture, will also be the home for the annual Showcase of
Excellence winners, a group of best-practice and government technology success
stories awarded by The Federal Executive Leadership Councils.
