Foundstone Professional Services, a Division of McAfee, Partners with
EC-Council to Provide Accredited Training
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- McAfee, Inc.
(NYSE: MFE) today announced that its Foundstone(R) Professional Services
division will offer a "Certified Ethical Hacking" course, designed to
empower IT professionals with the skills they need to detect
vulnerabilities on their systems. The new course marks the first time that
McAfee has offered a certified training program, which it will offer as an
accredited training partner of the International Council of Electronic
Commerce Consultants (EC-Council).
As threats continue to grow and cyber criminals become more
sophisticated, organizations must take steps to understand their
vulnerabilities and repair them before they are discovered by outsiders.
The new course will allow these organizations to take proactive steps
towards becoming more secure. The course is called "Certified Ethical
Hacker" because it teaches participants the skills they need to hack into
vulnerable systems, but requires them to sign a pledge that they will not
use these skills on any networks other than their own.
"We are rounding out our education offering with a powerful new
course," said Bill Hau, vice president of McAfee(R) Foundstone Professional
Services. "Our clients have been asking for a course that enables them to
pass the certification and we are responding to the overall need. By
teaching security professionals how to identify the vulnerabilities within
their own systems, I believe we will make a very positive impact on the
security of networks worldwide."
By augmenting its education offerings to include the Certified Ethical
Hacker course, Foundstone Professional Services are now able to offer a
certification that is growing in popularity with security professionals.
The Certified Ethical Hacker certification is the first stepping stone in a
security professionals' career to become certified in penetration testing
and risk mitigation. Foundstone Professional Services will continue to
offer its well-known Ultimate Hacking series, which provides attendees with
the next level of skills from Foundstone consultants who work in the real
world.
The EC-Council is a member-supported professional organization whose
purpose is to support and enhance the role of individuals and organizations
that design, create, manage or market security and e-business solutions.
"The information security environment is ever-changing," said Sanjay
Bavisi, president of EC-Council. "The partnership between EC-Council and
Foundstone Professional Services will bring change and needed innovation to
computer security training. We are excited and proud to be engaging with
Foundstone to offer this course to our customers."
