Onset's METAmessage for Wireless Is the Industry's Only Solution to Simplify Wireless Email and File Access for Users of MIS/Outlook Mobile Access 2002

Onset's Message Conversion Solutions Give MIS/Outlook Mobile Access 2002
Handheld Device Users Anytime, Anywhere Access to Email Attachments

INTERNET WIRELESS WORLD, NEW YORK, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Onset
Technology announced today that its METAmessage(R) for Wireless solutions
support Microsoft's Mobile Information Server (MIS)/Outlook Mobile Access 2002
application, giving Pocket PC, WAP-enabled phone and other handheld device
users remote access to email attachments and desktop files. Onset, a Microsoft
Mobile Solutions Partner, made the announcement at both the Internet Wireless
World conference in New York and the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes.
Onset's METAmessage for Wireless solutions give MIS/Outlook Mobile Access
2002 users the ability to remotely read and print over 30 different types of
email attachments and to read and print Web pages without connecting to the
Internet. The solutions make access faster, simpler, and more cost-effective
by converting file attachments into text at the server, letting users avoid
lengthy file downloads. Onset's recently introduced GetFile(TM) module, a
component of the METAmessage solutions, also increases the availability of
vital corporate information to MIS/Outlook Mobile Access 2002 users by
providing wireless access to files on their corporate networks.
Onset's METAmessage solutions are the only message conversion offerings
that support MIS/Outlook Mobile Access, Microsoft's mobile device and
telephone portal operating environment for browsing and receiving
notifications from Outlook e-mail messages, calendars, tasks, and contacts.
"The MIS team recognizes the need for an e-mail attachment and file access
solution that supports both text conversion and fax output from cell phones
and PocketPC devices. We understand that downloading an attachment to your
PocketPC, especially a large file, is not always appropriate and isn't even
possible for cell phone devices. So being able to print the attachment to a
fax machine or read it as text is a valuable capability. Onset's METAmessage
for Wireless provides a dependable and high-quality solution, which is
important to our MIS 2002 customers," said David Rasmussen, lead product
manager for MMIS at Microsoft Corp.
"Adding support for the MMIS 2002 is a natural step for METAmessage,
because our product has been designed from the start to bridge any type of
messaging infrastructure and to support a device-independent client base. We
are enormously proud to have been chosen by Microsoft to provide our
capabilities to the new MMIS," said Drew Freeman, Onset's Vice President of
Business Development.
Microsoft Mobile Information Server (MIS)/Outlook Mobile Access 2002
Mobility is critical for enterprise customers. With MIS 2002 availability
Microsoft is delivering on its vision to provide enterprise customers and
partners with the best solution for secure access to Exchange 2000 via a
variety of mobile devices including the new Pocket PC 2002.

METAmessage for Wireless Solutions Meet Variety of Needs
METAmessage for Wireless solutions, adopted by such Fortune 500 companies
as Bechtel, CBS/Viacom, Northrop Grumman, PepsiCo, Pfizer, and Universal
Studios, are comprised of the METAmessage Conversion Server (MCS) and one or
more METAmessage modules. The METAmessage Conversion Server software, which
provides the foundation for all METAmessage solutions, is built on a scalable,
open architecture that lets enterprises and carriers leverage their existing
messaging infrastructures while also providing a dependable platform for
future growth. Users can start with one METAmessage for Wireless solution and
easily add modules as their needs -- and messaging technology -- evolve.
METAmessage modules include AttachmentsPlus(TM), that lets handheld users
read and print email attachments and Web pages, and GetFile(TM), that lets
handheld users access files located on their corporate network for remote
sending. When used in conjunction with AttachmentsPlus, GetFile also lets
users read and print files.
