ValiCert Desktop Validator Delivers Secure Desktop Environment

     New Offering Helps Prevent Loss Due to Fraudulent Digital Identities

paperless e-Business, today announced the ValiCert Desktop Validator(TM), a
plug-in module designed to provide validation capabilities to Microsoft-based
applications. This new OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) plug-in
allows users to safeguard their electronic activity -- whether it is
downloading applets, or engaging in high value online transactions. The
validation of digital certificates provides a necessary step that warns users
before they rely on certificates, thereby reducing the risk of loss. The
ValiCert Desktop Validator builds upon ValiCert's proven experience enabling

Desktop Validator provides validation checking for the Microsoft Windows
Address Book, which stores information such as e-mail addresses and digital
certificates. Using the Desktop Validator, users can check the status of
digital certificates used to sign S/ MIME email while also allowing end-users
to check the status of digital certificates present in the various certificate
data stores of a computer running Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 95,
or Microsoft Windows 98.
