Unrivalled Global Reach and Ease of Deployment for Corporations Mobilized Via
Microsoft's Mobile Information Server 2002 (MIS)
CANNES, France and San Ramon, Calif., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ --
Mobileway(R), leader in managing mobile transactions across the globe, is
showcasing its online enterprise service that enables workforces to be truly
mobile at the 3GSM Congress in Cannes this week. Mobileway, through working
closely with Microsoft, ensures that a corporation's mobile workforce receives
real time alerts of email, appointments, and tasks directly to their mobile
phone anywhere in the World.
Microsoft's presence within the corporate environment is assured through
Microsoft Exchange Server, the market leading enterprise mail server. In
recognizing the rapidly increasing mobility needs of both individuals and
entire workforces, Microsoft developed Mobile Information Server to extend the
reach of Microsoft .NET services to mobile users. Users are now able to
access their inbox, calendar, contacts, and tasks wirelessly, while benefiting
from the ability to set up parameters to receive alerts by SMS on receipt of
an email or reminders for calendar entries.
Microsoft's MIS product family is comprised of two components: the MIS
Enterprise Edition hosted by the corporation and the MIS Carrier Edition
hosted by Mobileway to run Mobileway's Mobile Exchange Service. With
contracted direct connections in place with 88 of the world's leading
operators, Mobileway has an unrivalled global reach. Since Mobileway is
carrier agnostic, customers, particularly multi-national corporations whose
mobile workforces may have mobile devices subscribed to an array of network
operators, benefit. By providing a single point of access to true global
coverage, Mobileway cuts costs by avoiding roaming charges, and avoids
complications particularly for corporations with workforces operating in areas
not covered by reciprocal roaming agreements. In today's increasingly global
working environment, the ability for traveling employees to gain easy access
to their exchange services is paramount.
"Mobileway's service goes a long way to provide easy, secure access to
corporate data from anywhere and on any mobile device," said Jonas Persson,
Director of Business Development, Microsoft. "In addition to mobile access to
PIM services such as email, calendar, and tasks, Microsoft's MIS takes this
service one step further by providing connectivity with other Microsoft .NET
services. This will enable enterprise users to 'intelligently' draw from
multiple online resources in real-time and further extend their productivity."
Bob Pike, EVP Global Marketing and Business Development commented,
"Mobileway's aim is to offer corporations a one-stop-shop solution, which will
enable them to leverage the potential Microsoft has provided them with by
extending its Microsoft .NET services to the mobile sphere. Together with
Microsoft, we can assist in providing connectivity for employees to all
wireless carriers, thereby removing the problem of managing multiple mobile
networks. Supporting Microsoft's philosophy of 'anytime, anyplace, any
device' we can now add in 'any network' to complete the picture."
Mobileway and Microsoft's demonstration at the 3GSM Congress reveals the
speed and efficiency of Mobileway's SMS transport network, as well as showing
how parameters can be set for users to avoid receiving spam or other non-
urgent items. Demonstrations of Mobileway's Mobile Exchange Service can be
witnessed at Mobileway's stand (B1, Hall 1).
