OLD GREENWICH, Conn., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Premcor Inc.
(NYSE: PCO) today announced the appointment of Wayne A. Budd to the Premcor
Board of Directors. Mr. Budd is the Executive Vice President and General
Counsel of John Hancock Financial Services. He also serves on the Board of
Directors and is a member of its Policy Committee.
Thomas D. O'Malley, Premcor's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said,
"Wayne Budd brings to Premcor a wealth of regulatory, legislative, and policy
experience as evidenced by his private sector practice and high-profile public
service career. He was a valuable member of the Tosco Board of Directors from
1997 until the company's sale in 2001 and will be an outstanding addition to
the Premcor board."
Mr. Budd has more than 35 years experience in various legal positions in
both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining John Hancock Financial
Services, Mr. Budd served as Group President, Bell Atlantic-New England from
1996 to 2000. From 1993 to 1996, he was a senior partner at the Boston law
firm of Goodwin, Procter & Hoar. Mr. Budd has held a number of prominent
positions in the federal and state government. In 1992, he was appointed by
President George Bush as Associate Attorney General of the United States.
From 1989 to 1992, he was U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, serving as the
state's chief federal prosecutor and representing the federal government in
all matters involving civil litigation. Mr. Budd also served on the U.S.
Sentencing Commission upon his appointment in 1994 by President Bill Clinton.
In addition to his directorship at John Hancock Financial Services, he is
a director of the American Automobile Association of Southern New England and
the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. He is also Vice Chairman of the
Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Senior Advisory
Committee for the Institute of Politics, Kennedy School of Government at
Harvard University. Mr. Budd is a past president of the Massachusetts Bar
Association and the Massachusetts Black Lawyers' Association.
