MIDLAND, Mich., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aloysius J. Oliver,
Chairman of Chemical Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: CHFC), today announced
that Thomas T. Huff, Attorney at Law and principal of Thomas T. Huff, PC,
located in Kalamazoo, MI, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of
Chemical Financial Corporation. The Company's board appointed Mr. Huff at its
regular meeting held on January 19, 2004.

Mr. Huff currently serves the Board of Directors of Chemical Bank
Shoreline, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chemical Financial Corporation, an
appointment that began in 1986. Mr. Huff earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree
from Michigan State University in 1964 and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Wayne
State University in 1967. Mr. Huff recently retired from the Varnum Riddering
law firm and has opened his own office in Kalamazoo. He is the owner and
principal of Peregrine Realty, LLC, which has been a pioneer in the
development of urban residences in Kalamazoo. Mr. Huff has served on the
Board of Directors of the Kalamazoo Symphony Society, Kalamazoo Nature Center,
Kalamazoo Economic Development Corporation, Kalamazoo Downtown Incorporated
and Downtown Development Authority.
An extremely active individual within Kalamazoo, Mr. Huff dedicates a
great amount of time to the betterment of the community. By focusing his
attention on growth and development, he continually reaffirms his commitment
to the prosperity of Kalamazoo.
