BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The
Construction Writers Association's 50th anniversary celebration will
culminate in 2008. The association has introduced a special anniversary
logo to highlight the association's successes over the past 50 years. The
logo was introduced at the association's World of Concrete reception and
will be used through 2008.
CWA was incorporated in the state of New York in 1958. It was founded
as an outgrowth of an informal gathering of construction magazine and
newspaper editors and writers covering the 1956 meeting of the Highway
Officials of the Atlantic States in Atlantic City, NJ. CWA's organizational
meeting, at which the first officers were elected, was held at the Stevens
Hotel (now the Conrad Hilton) during the January 1957 meeting of the
Associated Equipment Distributors in Chicago. CWA used the incorporation
date to establish its official birthday, its 50th, in 2008.
CWA is a non-profit, non-partisan, international organization for
professional journalists, editors, photographers, marketers and publicists
serving the information needs of the construction industry. The group
strives to provide educational and networking benefits to its members.
Nearly 300 people belong to CWA.
Formal meetings are held twice a year. The CWA Annual Meeting and
Journalism and Photography Awards Dinner is usually held at the beginning
of May in Washington, D.C. The CWA Midyear Meeting takes place in Chicago,
usually in October. It features an Awards Dinner with presentation of the
CWA Website and Electronic Awards and the CWA Marketing Communications
Awards. These meetings provide members with both networking and educational
opportunities.
In addition to regular meetings, the group holds occasional receptions
and events at national industry meetings and trade shows.
CWA News, the association's newsletter informs membership about current
activities of the association and its members, announces important industry
developments, publicizes upcoming industry meetings and lists job
opportunities.
The association's website, http://www.constructionwriters.org, features
