Honored for championing healthy work-life balance
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- GMAC ResCap has been named a 2007
Minnesota Work-Life Champion by the Minnesota Work-Life Champions
Partnership, a state-wide awards program that spotlights the efforts of
Minnesota businesses to implement programs and practices that create
flexible and supportive workplaces.
GMAC ResCap was among 22 Minnesota employers that were recognized with
Minnesota Work-Life Awards. The company was recognized in the Very Large
Company category (3,000+ employees). Other Minnesota Work-Life Champions in
this category that were recognized included: Carlson Companies, Deloitte &
Touche, General Mills, Mayo Clinic and Wells Fargo.
The Minnesota Work-Life Champions Partnership is comprised of local
chambers of commerce, business and professional associations, foundations
and non-profit, work-life advocacy organizations committed to making
Minnesota's employers the strongest in the nation. Evaluations of Minnesota
businesses focused on organizational culture and leadership; work practice
and flexibility; health, wellness and benefits; leave options; help with
personal and family issues; and community involvement. In addition, a
survey was administered to a random sampling of GMAC ResCap associates.
"We are honored to receive this recognition, which goes to the heart of
GMAC ResCap's commitment to value people," said David Ahlers, chief human
resources officer at GMAC ResCap. "We respect our associates as people who
are free to act, take more control over their schedules and maintain the
flexibility to handle personal responsibilities. This award confirms our
belief that a culture of freedom and responsibility is at the root of being
a great place to work."
Complementing the 2007 Minnesota Work-Life Champion Award, GMAC ResCap
has also been honored in at least three different cities for its
outstanding workplace environments. GMAC ResCap's operations in the Twin
Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul), Waterloo, Iowa, and the United Kingdom have
each been honored as top employers in their respective markets in 2006.
The Minnesota Work-Life Champion Awards program, initiated by a grant
from The McKnight Foundation, is managed by the Center for Ethical Business
Cultures with assistance from WFC Resources, a nationally recognized
publisher and consultant on work-life practices.
