    BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/--
Palomar Medical Technologies Inc (Nasdaq: PMTI) today announced that a new

EsteLux(TM) light-based system will be shown for the first time at the
upcoming American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) meeting. The Company will be

The LUX G green light hand piece greatly expands the EsteLux's treatment
capabilities. The Palomar EsteLux light-based system can now be used for
removing hair and vascular and pigmented lesions. With an output spectrum
within the green wavelengths of light, the new LUX G is targeted at both
oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin in the blood. The green light wavelength
spectrum is also highly absorbed by melanin, the pigment responsible for
tanning and for producing brown spots on the skin. The treatment of vascular
lesions (broken capillaries and rosecea) and the removal of pigmented lesions
(age-spots, sun damage, etc) has been successfully accomplished in the past
using a variety of green light lasers. Now, with the addition of the LUX G
hand piece to the EsteLux, both applications can be accomplished rapidly and
comfortably.
David Vasily, M.D., Medical Director of Aesthetica Cosmetic and Laser
Center in Bethlehem, PA, commented "The EsteLux has shown itself to be a fast
and effective treatment for hair and actinic bronzing including solar
lentigines, better known as age-spots or sunspots, and other sun related
dyschromia. Now with the addition of the new green light hand piece, it is
even easier to treat photo-damaged and pigmentation on the skin. Also, the
vascular component, comprised of small to medium sized broken blood vessels,
typically associated with sun-damaged skin can be effectively treated. It is
obvious to see that immediately following the treatment that the vessels are
gone. The pigmented area on the skin darkens slightly following the treatment
and over the course of the next week peel away revealing a healthy rejuvenated
epidermis. This creates the opportunity to treat both pigmented and vascular
components of sun damaged skin simultaneously and minimizes any downtime to
the patient."
