NBC Olympic Advertisers Choose Interactive Ads Powered by Wink

    ALAMEDA, Calif., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Wink Communications (Nasdaq: WINK) announced today that Wink's Enhanced
Broadcasting technology is the interactive platform chosen by several
advertisers for the 2002 Winter Olympics. NBC viewers are responding to
interactive content with only a few clicks with their remote control.

Several advertisers, including AT&T Consumer, T.D. Waterhouse, and others
selected Wink's technology, adding an interactive component to their NBC
Olympic television advertising campaigns. Adding an interactive element
enables AT&T to further leverage their current media buy and establish a
direct connection with potential customers -- extending an offer for their
service to a whole new level. T.D. Waterhouse, in another creative use of Wink
technology, is using Wink-enabled ads for lead generation and new customer
acquisition.
Viewers watching the interactive ads are alerted that an ad is interactive
by a blinking "i" icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. This icon
is prevalent in 3800 hours of Wink enhanced programming per week, so it is
familiar to Viewers. By pressing the "Select / OK" button on the remote
control, they can access an interactive enhancement that provides the
opportunity to request additional information, enter a contest/sweepstakes or
extend a promotional offer on the Olympic Ads.
"We are excited about partnering with several of NBC's Olympic advertisers
to provide enhanced interactive advertising and content to NBC's viewers of
the Winter Olympics," said Melinda White, EVP National Accounts, Wink
Communications. "This addition of interactivity to NBC's Olympic advertising
is a real milestone for advertisers enabling them to reinforce their branding
and customer relationship management initiatives to millions of households."
"Wink has introduced some very exciting technology and we're happy to be
among its first users with our AT&T Unlimited advertising campaign," said
Cathy Constable, AT&T Vice President of Marketing Services. "AT&T has a long
tradition of innovation in the communications' industry and we're just as
eager to apply new learnings to communications with our customers."
Wink currently provides interactivity to 32 Networks and over 50 National
Advertisers, enhancing shows, programs and ads daily.
