Freedom Check Series to Raise Funds for NCUF Programs
MOUNDS VIEW, Minn., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty, already regarded as
the top check provider to the credit union movement, has been designated as
the exclusive check partner to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF).
"Liberty has prided itself on our long and enthusiastic support of the
NCUF's many worthy credit union development programs," said Liberty President
& Chief Executive Officer Stan Hollen. "To that end, we will deepen our
relationship with the Foundation and expand our financial support for the
Foundation's noble causes."
Hollen said proceeds from sales of Liberty's Freedom Check series will
trigger ongoing financial support to the Foundation. The Freedom Check
series, featuring scenes of American landmarks, was first introduced as part
of Liberty's concerted effort to support the Credit Union Campaign for
Consumer Choice in 1997. Since the 1998 passage of HR 1151, the Credit Union
Membership Access Act, a majority of the Freedom Checks proceeds have been
directed to the NCUF.
"I want to extend the NCUF's sincere appreciation for Liberty's commitment
to funding credit union development in 2003," said NCUF Executive Director
Gary Officer in the agreement correspondence to Liberty. "This is part of an
exclusive check partner relationship between Liberty and the Foundation and
continues our great partnership."
Since 1998, Liberty has pledged more than $110,000 to the Foundation and
has been integrally involved in credit union development efforts. Hollen said
that Liberty plans to make another "significant contribution" to the
Foundation at the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards Dinner, one of the highlights of
the upcoming CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC. The
Wegner event, sponsored by the Foundation is scheduled for Sunday,
Feb. 23, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
