NEW BRITAIN, Conn., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of
Directors of The Stanley Works (NYSE: SWK) elected Donald R. McIlnay, 55, to
the new position President, Industrial Tools Group and Emerging Markets and
elected Jeffery D. Ansell, 38, to serve as Vice President and President,
Stanley Consumer Tools Group, an executive officer position. In his new role

Officer and will oversee the company's Proto industrial mechanics tools,
Vidmar industrial storage, Mac Tools, Assembly Technologies, Hydraulic Tools,

the industrial businesses as well as direct the company's overall expansion

Mr. McIlnay most recently served as President of Stanley's Tools Group
(consumer tools, hardware and storage, as well as industrial hand tools and

merchandising programs. His tenure in overseeing the home center, mass
merchant, co-op and two-step channels has featured consistent growth in sales
and profitability. From 2002 through mid-2004, as President of Industrial
Tools & Storage, he led the Stanley Vidmar organization as well as the
significant turnaround of the Stanley Proto business. From 2001-2002 Jeff was
Vice President -- Global Consumer Tools Marketing and prior to that Vice
President -- Consumer Sales Americas.
Mr. McIlnay and Mr. Ansell will report directly to John F. Lundgren,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, who commented: "Don McIlnay and Jeff
Ansell are industry and channel veterans who have demonstrated the ability to
serve customers with compelling value propositions, while executing programs
that create high demand by end users of tools, hardware and storage products.
"For over thirty years, Don has succeeded in a broad array of sales and
operating management roles, always delivering profitable growth. As such, he
is the ideal choice to execute the important task of increasing the presence
of our businesses in emerging markets. The election of Jeff Ansell as Vice
President and President, Consumer Tools Group recognizes both the successes in
the Consumer Tools business under his leadership, as well as our growth
expectations for consumer tools and storage in the years ahead."

included tenures as president of four different divisions. He holds BA -
