Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) to Convene National Conference in Washington, DC

    WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Child Welfare League
of America (CWLA) will convene its annual advocacy conference in
Washington, DC February 26-February 28, 2007 at the Marriott Wardman Park
Hotel. More than 1500 child welfare, human service and behavioral health
professionals from across the country will attend.
    This year's conference Children 2007: Raising Our Voices for Children,
will offer child welfare agencies and advocates an opportunity to meet
face- to-face to express their concerns about issues affecting children and
families. They will discuss strategies, collaborations, and best practice
models that will not only strengthen their ability to provide quality
services in their local communities, but will enhance their deliberations
with lawmakers. Sessions will address some of the major issues facing child
welfare today such as workloads, working with immigrant children, child
protection and homelessness, juvenile delinquency prevention, kinship care
and child welfare financing reforms and challenges.
    A key component on the conference schedule is CWLA's Hill Day -- on
Tuesday, February 27, when hundreds of participants will load buses and
head to Capitol Hill for meetings with their congressional representatives.
    CWLA will also bestow honors on individuals and corporations that have
been outstanding advocates for children. (See Schedule Below)
