BOCA RATON, Fla., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Rexall Sundown, Inc.
(Nasdaq: RXSD) today announced that the Company's President, Damon DeSantis,
will assume the additional responsibility of Chief Executive Officer. Chris
Nast, the current Chief Executive Officer, will now serve as Vice Chairman of
the Company's Board of Directors.
The announcements were made at the Company's Annual Shareholders' Meeting
by Carl DeSantis, Chairman of the Board, who noted that the planned transition
reflects the Company's strategic objective to insure continuity at the senior
management level. "Over the past year, Chris and Damon have worked closely
together with the Company's senior management to formulate and implement
strategic programs throughout the Company," he said. "Their efforts, with the
collective contributions of our entire management team, have resulted in
organizational improvements and the ongoing creation of an infrastructure that
will accommodate the Company's growth and leadership position into the next
millenium."
Damon DeSantis, who joined the Company in 1983 and served in various
management positions in all of the Company's divisions and operations, was
elected a Director in 1993 and named President of Rexall Sundown early last
year. Previously, he had served as President of Rexall Showcase
International, Inc., the Company's direct selling division, and remains its
Chief Executive Officer. Throughout his tenure with the Company, DeSantis has
achieved an impressive track record of accomplishments. Nast joined Rexall
Sundown in 1995 as President and Chief Operating Officer after a long and
successful career in the health and beauty care industry. He assumed the
position of Chief Executive Officer in 1997.
