Interoperability Between Aruba's WLAN Switches and Funk Software's WLAN
Security Solutions Tested and Verified; Aruba to Bundle Trial Version of Funk
Software's Products
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION --
Aruba Wireless Networks (Aruba) and Funk Software today announced the
industry's first fully interoperable, end-to-end enterprise Wi-Fi switching
solution based on the IEEE 802.1X standard. For a limited time, Aruba's Wi-Fi
switching systems will include a 30-day trial copy of Funk Software's WLAN
security solutions to provide a turnkey 802.1X wireless solution to its
customers.
Full interoperability between best-of-breed products from Aruba and Funk
Software's Odyssey(R) Client and Steel-Belted Radius(R), now allows
enterprises to more quickly and easily manage WLAN user authentication and
security, prevent unauthorized access and ensure data security.
Odyssey(R) Client is a multi-platform, multi-protocol 802.1X access client
that allows WLAN users to establish a secure connection over the wireless and
is easily deployed enterprise-wide. Steel-Belted Radius is a RADIUS server
that provides WLAN access control and security and easily authenticates WLAN
users against a wide variety of authentication schemes, including Windows,
LDAP, and token systems.
802.1X is a networking protocol that provides a framework to govern how
authentication and encryption can be used to better protect user data privacy
over both wired and wireless networks.
"With the morass of standards and technologies, the industry has actually
de-incented enterprises to deploy wireless," said Bob Sellers, systems
architect at Visiting Nurse Service of New York. A user of both Aruba Wi-Fi
switches and Funk Software WLAN security solutions, Visiting Nurse Service is
the leading provider of home health care and community-based services in the
New York City metropolitan region. "Delivering turnkey wireless solutions
that don't require us to spend exorbitant amounts of time and money deploying
a secure wireless environment are what we want, and Aruba and Funk Software
have delivered this."
"We've made wireless security, using 802.1X, plug-and-play from end-to
end," said Keerti Melkote, vice president of Marketing at Aruba Wireless
Networks. "Now customers don't have to wrestle with the technology in order
to deploy a robust and secure wireless LAN."
"Funk Software's WLAN security solutions are an excellent complement to
Aruba's switches," said Joe Ryan, vice president of Funk Software. "Our
products enable secure WLAN connectivity -- whatever the customer's
authentication scheme or network environment. When combined with Aruba's
switches, a customer gets the best of both worlds: secure WLAN access that can
be easily and intelligently integrated into the network infrastructure."
Interoperability Testing Details
Extensive testing was performed using a variety of supplicants,
authenticator and authentication server pairings.
Successful interoperability was achieved between Funk Software's Odyssey
Client v2.2x, Odyssey Server v2.0x, and Steel-Belted Radius v4.5x and Aruba's
Wi-Fi switching system running Aruba's AirOS 1.1 and 2.0.
Testing was performed using Windows 2K and Windows XP clients equipped
with Funk Software's 802.1X access client Odyssey Client with Aruba's wireless
LAN switches acting as an 802.1X authenticator with Funk Software's RADIUS
servers Odyssey Server or Steel-Belted RADIUS acting as the authentication
server while running all different extensible authentication protocols (EAP)
such as TLS, TTLS, LEAP, Cisco PEAP and MS-PEAP.
