(OTC: SIPX.PK) today announced its recent recognition by Second Harvest Food
Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties for its donations during the 2005
holiday season. Due to the outstanding level of generosity and commitment to
those in need, Sipex was awarded the prestigious Platinum Award. This
recognition, the second highest award provided, well represents the spirit
that embodies Sipex and its employees.
The food drive at Sipex ran from November 3, 2005 through December 22,
2005. "Hunger is a factor that affects far too many in their everyday
existence, and it is especially true during the holiday season that we should
consider those less fortunate," said Ralph Schmitt, CEO for Sipex.
During the food drive, the company held several events designed to
facilitate the collection of both food products and cash donations to this
critical effort. A holiday luncheon resulted in over ninety percent of the
employees converting their luncheon to a donation for Second Harvest. In
addition, several receptacles for food donations were set up in various
locations around the company.
