(Nasdaq: ALDN) today announced it has signed an agreement confirming that

VeriSign's strong authentication service is OATH compliant, based on open
standards, ensuring interoperability of user verification across numerous
disparate software application environments and hardware platforms, driving
the ubiquity of Strong Authentication across private and public networks.
Strong Authentication connotes a stringent level of security that combines a
user ID with a software or hardware 'token', in this case, the Aladdin eToken,
to form a unique device that validates a user's identity when accessing a
software application or network. Strong authentication enables multiple
business partners to securely share confidential information.
As the first-ever USB smartcard token with integrated OTP capability, the
new Aladdin eToken revolutionizes the two-factor authentication market by
giving users the flexibility to authenticate using USB connectivity or
standalone OTP in a single device. It offers VeriSign's strong authentication
service unmatched hardware expertise and innovative, market-shaping
technology. The new USB token combines Aladdin's proven eToken PRO USB
smartcard with an LCD display, battery and an OTP-generation button. More
secure and convenient than existing OTP devices, the new token utilizes its
advanced smartcard technology for both One-Time Password as well PKI
operations.
"Through OATH and our strong authentication service, VeriSign hopes to
drive the ubiquity of Strong Authentication across enterprise networks, to
enable them to conduct commerce and communications with confidence," said Mark
Griffiths, vice president, Authentication Services, VeriSign Security
Services. "By working with Aladdin in this Beta-phase, we will offer
enterprises tokens run on a service that is scalable, easy to deploy and cost
effective."
Using static passwords for protection severely limits the level of
security for all types of business conducted over the Internet. This new,
collaborative effort promotes Strong Authentication and makes more secure,
reliable authentication an affordable and easily deployable solution for
businesses.
"Aladdin's partnership with VeriSign enables one of the most advanced and
flexible solutions for Strong Authentication based on open authentication
reference architecture," said Leedor Agam, vice president, eToken Business
Unit at Aladdin Knowledge Systems. "The new eToken device combines all-in-one
support for PKI applications, password storage and OTP-based strong
authentication when not connected to a PC."

About eToken
eToken is a USB authentication device about the size of a normal house
key. It offers users and IT security administrators a fully portable,
cost-effective means to authenticate users and digitally sign sensitive
business transactions. eToken PRO offers advanced smart card functionality
with a robust onboard cryptographic processor featuring either 1024-bit RSA,
3xDES and SHA1 algorithms. eToken PRO is the ideal solution for PKI enabled
applications. Since operations such as signing and PKI key generation are
done on the token itself, sensitive data is kept away from the hostile
environment of the PC. eToken R2 offers simple yet robust 120bit DESX onboard
security functionality as its underlying technology. Both the eToken PRO and
the R2 feature a one-piece plastic housing, providing an unmatched
tamper-evident and water-resistant container.
