Pointsec's flagship full hard disk encryption mobile product, Pointsec(R)
for PC, is receiving the world's first Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4)
ranking for its category under the Common Criteria, a leading international IT
security standard. The Common Criteria (CC), established in 1996, defines
concepts and principles of IT security evaluation that meet the needs of
governments across the industrialized world. Initially supported by the
United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, and the Netherlands,
the CC has since been adopted by 19 nations. It has also been codified as ISO
Standard 15408.
"Among the governments of the world's leading industrialized nations,
there is no higher data security standard than the Common Criteria," noted
Larsson. "Certification at EAL4, the highest possible level for
generally-available commercial products, is a strong validation of Pointsec's
data protection technologies. We look forward to using RSA 2004 as a platform
for presenting the critical issues surrounding the Common Criteria, BITS, and
FIPS certifications, and their importance for the modern enterprise, at RSA
2004."
