At 2002 SAE World Congress, Canada to Showcase Its Best In Automotive Technology

    DETROIT, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- From headlamps to taillights, and
everything in between, some 26 Canadian automotive suppliers, research and
development facilities, and consortia will exhibit the hottest technologies,
services and solutions now being applied in the global automotive industry.
    They will comprise the 72,000-square-foot Canadian National Stand that
features a 400-square-foot Automotive Technology Showcase at the 2002 SAE
World Congress, March 4-7, at Cobo Conference Center in Detroit.
    Nearly 30 other Canadian firms and organizations also will be exhibiting
during SAE Week.
    John D. Tennant, Consul General of Canada, said, "We are extremely pleased
to be able to showcase some of Canada's leading automotive technologies within
such a concentrated area of the SAE World Congress.  The collaboration,
innovation and efficiency of these manufacturers, R&D centers, and support
organizations, along with more than two dozen other Canadian exhibitors
elsewhere on the show floor, explain why we have chosen the theme, 'Automotive
Partners to the World' for our stand.

    The Automotive Technology Showcase comprises:
    *  Auto21, Canada's automotive center of excellence
    *  Fuel Cells Canada, a national trade association for the development of
       fuel cells
    *  Natural Resources Canada, the nation's premier science and technology
       research organization.  Exhibiting are:
       -  CANMET, Canada's Materials Technology Laboratory
       -  IMI, the Industrial Materials Institute; the Integrated Research
          Council of Canada
       -  IRAP, the Industrial Research Assistance Program.

    *  Semi-solid forming of magnesium alloys
    *  Telematics
    *  Welding of plastic intake manifolds
