Integrates Intelligence and Technology to Deploy Countermeasures and
Enforce Policies that Eliminate Risk from Emerging Threats
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 25, RSA Conference /PRNewswire/ -- iDEFENSE, Inc. and
Secure Elements today introduced one of the security industry's first products
to protect enterprises from emerging cyber threats by automatically deploying
countermeasures and policies before security patches are implemented, and by
then administering available patches. The partnership is the first to combine
the crucial elements of intelligence, responsiveness and automation required
for pre-empting today's sophisticated cyber crime.
Secure Elements' patent-pending automated vulnerability remediation (AVR)
technology, powered by iDEFENSE's proprietary intelligence, provides immediate
protection from new threats, during the critical period between the launch of
an exploit and the release of an effective patch. As the window between
vulnerability discovery and malicious code attacks continues to shrink,
organizations are increasingly susceptible to cyberthreats while waiting for a
proven patch. The ability to deploy these remediation tactics well before
public disclosure, in the face of zero-day exploits and workarounds, is an
essential part of any countermeasure strategy.
"Unpatched no longer means unprotected," said Ned Miller, president and
CEO of Secure Elements. "Together with iDEFENSE, we've created a new first
line of defense for protecting critical information assets from emerging
threats."
Secure Elements' CLASS 5 AVR is the only security solution that creates
and implements remediation strategies -- in an automated manner -- for
vulnerabilities before a patch is available. Based on iDEFENSE's threat
intelligence, CLASS 5 AVR implements countermeasures and security patches
across network-based asset classes. The product manages the entire remediation
management process from a central console, streamlining the ability to change
settings, configurations and policies that were previously done manually. All
countermeasures, even the quarantining of assets, are implemented without
limiting network performance or productivity. And once a patch is available,
Secure Elements' CLASS 5 AVR enables automatic deployment and restoration of
previous settings and configurations.
The partnership brings together leaders in global cyber intelligence and
the growing area of enterprise vulnerability management. The two companies
will jointly integrate the solution, with Secure Elements marketing and
selling CLASS 5 AVR to commercial and government organizations.
"This year's unprecedented amount of fast-moving, sophisticated cyber
threats is raising awareness about the need for early action," said John
Watters, president and CEO of iDEFENSE. "Secure Elements meets this need by
providing customers a new and indispensable layer of security that protects
organizations when they're most vulnerable."
