SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the RSA Conference in
San Francisco, enterprise encryption software developer
PC Guardian Technologies ("PC Guardian") announced it has submitted Encryption
Plus(R) Hard Disk for validation to Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4) under
the Common Criteria, the internationally recognized standards for IT security.
To conduct the evaluation PC Guardian selected McLean, VA-based CygnaCom
Solutions, which posted an announcement at

EAL4 is the highest practical security validation level for commercial
software. Last year, EP Hard Disk earned EAL 1 validation, and last month PC
Guardian announced its encryption technology was accepted for FIPS 140-2
validation testing.
"Our goal is to be FIPS 140-2 and EAL4 validated as quickly as possible
for organizations that rely on these certifications," says PC Guardian
President Noah Groth.
EP Hard Disk protects data "at rest" on Windows NT/2000/XP hard drives,
encrypting 100% of the operating system, applications and data files with
256-bit AES encryption. According to Groth, nearly 2,000 PCs are stolen each
day in the US. "Anyone who steals an EP Hard Disk-protected computer is denied
100% access to systems, data and networks."
In the 10 years since EP Hard Disk has been released, hundreds of major
businesses and government agencies have purchased it, including Amgen,
Celanese, Deutsche Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank, Gillette, Humana, MONY Life
Insurance, Philip Morris USA, Rockwell International, Seagate Technology, and
VW Credit.
