In her new position, Ms. Yates will oversee Thunderbird's annual worldwide
series of forums for business leaders. This year, sessions are scheduled to
be held in Mexico City, London and Hong Kong. Thunderbird Global Business
Forums are designed to bring together business leaders and Thunderbird faculty
to address key issues facing their region. As director, Ms. Yates will be
responsible for conceptualizing each forum, identifying and inviting speakers
and participants, and marketing the event.
Ms. Yates served Junior Achievement of Arizona from 1986 to 2000, the last
twelve years as President. During that time, under Ms. Yates direction, the
two Junior Achievement organizations in Arizona were merged into one statewide
organization. The period was also marked by dramatic increases in the number
of Arizona students served by Junior Achievement.
Thunderbird's Global Business Forums will not be Ms. Yates' first
international assignment. She served in the Peace Corps in Honduras after
graduating from Georgia State University, and has been a consultant for Junior
Achievement in Italy where she helped found the organization and provide
initial training for the Italian Junior Achievement staff.
