MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Pinnacle Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE), a leader in digital video content
creation tools, is winning gold medal praise for its participation in the
2002 Winter Olympics. Pinnacle's CineWave HD, the leading editing and
compositing solution on the Apple Power Mac G4, was used in a wide variety of
applications including the broadcast of the Winter Olympics in High
Definition, produced by NBC in association with HDNet, and NASA's high
definition theater presentation near Olympic Square.
NBC's DTV affiliates and HDNet (Channel 199 on DIRECTV) Deliver NBC's High
Definition Broadcast of 2002 Winter Olympics with CineWave HD
The Winter Olympics in High Definition, produced by NBC in association
with HDNet, used CineWave HD to edit segments for its 24 daily hours of
coverage. CineWave HD is the only nonlinear editing system that was used to
produce HD Programming that can be seen on NBC's DTV affiliates and on HDNet's
Channel 199/DIRECTV.
"Pinnacle Systems CineWave provides a very complete and reliable HD NLE
system at a reasonable price," said Philip Garvin, General Manager, HDNet.
"It enables operators like HDNet to easily have multiple systems, making us
more productive. Our editors, who are all experienced on the really expensive
high-end NLE systems, have been very pleased with both the operation and the
output of CineWave. HDNet produces and televises more HDTV content than
anyone else and we know the high demands put on equipment by 1080i editing.
Pinnacle Systems has nailed it with CineWave HD."
NASA Runs Digital Theater in Olympic Square Using CineWave HD
NASA presented a stunning high definition theater presentation adjacent to
Olympic Square in Salt Lake City that is being created and delivered by a
CineWave HD system. The presentation combined elements captured by a variety
of NASA satellites to provide a unique and inspiring tour of the world.
"We were challenged to put on a very high quality production without the
benefit of a full professional post production team," said Fritz Hasler of
NASA Goddard Laboratory for Atmospheres. "CineWave is the perfect solution
for us because it enables sophisticated editing and playback of full HD
material in a very cost-effective solution. The results are
impressive -- especially on a 30-foot screen!"
"The widespread use of CineWave at the Olympics is tremendous validation
of the product," said Pinnacle Systems Senior Product Manager for CineWave,
Andrew Baum. "We designed CineWave to enable its users to wear many hats. It
is the only editing system that provides a solution for working in everything
from standard definition and real-time standard definition through
uncompressed HD formats simply by adding an I/O breakout box and software.
CineWave has emerged as the solution of choice for producing stunning creative
work for any application."
