SAN DIEGO, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) announced
today that Martin Coles has joined the company as senior vice president of
Gateway International, responsible for Gateway's marketing, sales, customer
service and business development in all markets outside North America.
Coles is positioned to drive Gateway's international operations to achieve
the same goals as his North American counterparts: increase sales growth,
improve the cost structure, expand beyond-the-box capabilities, and strengthen
customer relations in all Gateway's international markets outside of North
America.
Coles brings executive management expertise developed and demonstrated at
some of the largest and most successful companies in the world, including
Nike, PepsiCo, and Procter and Gamble.

track record of ramping an overseas business quickly but prudently," said Ted

Coles has excelled in a broad range of leadership positions at Fortune 200
companies throughout the world in the last 24 years. Beyond most recently
serving as CEO of the UK's LetsBuyIt.com, Coles was a senior executive with
Nike, Inc. from 1992 to 2000. Most recently, he served as Nike's executive
vice president for Europe, Global Sales, and the Jordan, Golf and ACG brands.
From 1987 to 1992, Coles worked at PepsiCo as vice president of Manufacturing,
Logistics, Customer Service, and Franchised Bottling Operations. Prior to
joining PepsiCo, Coles managed production at Procter & Gamble to 1987. While
at Procter and Gamble, Coles also held positions focused on logistics,
manufacturing, plant management and Total Quality Management.
Born July 24, 1955 in Cardiff, Wales, Coles earned a bachelor's degree
with honors in biochemistry from the University of Wales in 1977. A British
citizen, Coles is based at Gateway's headquarters in San Diego.
