Detroit is accepting nominations for its special awards recognizing
individuals and organizations actively supporting others. Vanguard and
Diamond Award nominations must be postmarked by March 24, 2006. Award winners
will be honored during the Matrix Awards Banquet on May 9, 2006 at The Players

The Vanguard Award recognizes an individual or organization for
innovatively employing a communications medium in 2005. Last year's winner
was Brenda Naomi Rosenberg, executive producer of "The Children of Abraham

The Diamond Award honors an individual or organization for improving
conditions for women in the workplace or portraying women positively in media.
Last year's winner was the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of
Women Business Owners/Excel's GirlBiz.
WIC is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women
