McAfee Announces OEM Agreement for VMware ESX Server, Endorses VMware
VMsafe and Offers Products and Services for Virtualization Security
CANNES, France, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:
MFE), the world's largest dedicated security company, today announced that
it has entered into a broad relationship with VMware Inc. to advance
virtualization security.
As part of the relationship McAfee plans to embed the newly announced
VMware VMsafe security technology into future security solution offerings.
McAfee has also signed an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) agreement
with VMware to utilize its VMware ESX Server technology.
In addition, McAfee today announced beta availability of its new Email
and Web Security Virtual Appliance, built from the ground up for the VMware
platform. McAfee also unveiled a new virtual infrastructure security
assessment service.

VMsafe: A New Security Paradigm
McAfee is the first security company to adopt and publicly demonstrate
VMware VMsafe security technology. VMware unveiled VMsafe today at VMworld
Europe in Cannes, France, where McAfee Chief Technology Officer Christopher
Bolin showed how VMsafe will offer unprecedented levels of security for
virtualized environments.

McAfee to OEM VMware ESX Server 3i, Unveils Virtual Appliance,
Announces Virtual Infrastructure Security Assessment Service
McAfee today further announced an OEM agreement to use VMware ESX
Server 3i technology in future security solutions, which could include
purpose-built versions of VMware ESX Server 3i to support McAfee(R)
security technology.
McAfee also announced availability of its new Email and Web Security
Virtual Appliance for early delivery customers, built from the ground up
for the VMware platform. The virtual appliance has the same features and
effectiveness of the physical McAfee security appliances and helps
organizations defend their networks from spam, malware and malicious Web
sites, while at the same time reduce overall cost of security for customers
and allow customers to implement security faster.
As part of its strategy to provide the most complete solution for
virtualization security, McAfee today also unveiled a new Foundstone(R)
Professional Services offering. Foundstone's Virtual Infrastructure
Security Assessment is the first security service dedicated to
virtualization. Foundstone has been helping companies secure their IT
