ATLANTA, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s Quilted
Northern(R) brand has unveiled a new entry in the personal moist wipe category
that combines convenience with germ-fighting qualities. New Quilted Northern
Fresh & Moist Wipes(TM), the first anti-bacterial personal moist wipes
developed for personal use, are designed to supplement dry bathroom tissue.
The new wipes offer extra reassurance for families who desire a higher level
of cleaning and freshness.
"We know that many families are searching for a clean feeling beyond what
dry bath tissue alone can provide," said Michael C. Burandt, president - North
American consumer products, Georgia-Pacific. "Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist
Wipes(TM) are an excellent solution. They are effective, gentle on skin and
easy for the entire family to use."
Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist Wipes(TM) are pre-moistened, lightly
scented and contain a gentle lotion formulated with aloe vera and vitamin E.
The wipes include a mild anti-bacterial ingredient to give consumers added
protection against germs.
"More and more consumers want the added freshness and comfort that come
from moist wipes. We believe there is a significant market for products like
this and that moist wipes will continue to represent the fastest-growing and
most dynamic segment within the bath tissue products category," Burandt added.
"We have been a major provider of commercial private label moist wipes for a
long time. By introducing this retail version, we will continue to leverage
our Quilted Northern brand to add value."
Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist Wipes(TM) are designed not only for
personal cleansing, as a supplement to dry bathroom tissue, but they also are
convenient as a general-purpose wipe -- such as for cleaning children's faces,
dirty hands or other situations where consumers want a clean and fresh
feeling.
The launch of Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist Wipes(TM) will be accompanied
by consumer programming support throughout 2001, including newspaper inserts,
in-pack-coupons, in-store programs and public relations efforts.
Quilted Northern Fresh & Moist Wipes(TM) will be sold at retailers
nationwide in 50-sheet tubs and refill packs for the suggested retail price of
$2.29 per tub and $1.99 per refill. Introduction to retail outlets nationally
began late last year. The product will be available through Kroger, Safeway,
Dominick's, Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Albertson's, Farmer Jack as well as other
retailers.
