DETROIT, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC)
announced its top performing suppliers for the year 2002 as measured by its
supply chain management program, Continuous Customer Value Improvement (CCVI).
DDC evaluates major suppliers in the areas of quality, delivery, cost and
technical support, with the goal of waste elimination through enhanced
communication and coordination throughout the supply chain.
Twelve suppliers hold the distinction of being named Detroit Diesel
Corporation 2002 CCVI "Supplier of the Year":

* Engineered Machine Products - Escanaba, Michigan
* The Ferry Cap & Set Screw Company - Cleveland, Ohio

* Motorola, Inc. - Seguin, Texas
* Metaldyne-Simpson - Fremont, Indiana
* ThyssenKrupp Automotive - Danville, Illinois and L'Horme, France

* Welles Manufacturing - Northvale, New Jersey
* Winsert, Inc.- Marinette, Wisconsin
2002 marks the fifth year of the program, which provides supply base
coverage for approximately 68% of Detroit Diesel's product material purchases.
In the spirit of continuous improvement, CCVI is being modified in 2003 to
refine the scoring metrics with expanded emphasis of problem elimination and
price reductions. CCVI is a major initiative of the company.
