CORVALLIS, Ore., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- NaturalPoint Inc., will be
exhibiting at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) from March 7-9 at the
Moscone Center in San Francisco. NaturalPoint's cutting edge devices
exemplify the "Take Control" theme of this year's GDC, by evolving computer
input beyond keyboard, mouse, and joystick. The TrackIR system turns any
game player's upper body into a precise controller with Six Degrees of
Freedom (6DOF), while the upcoming OptiTrack camera and software toolset
lets any animator set up a motion capture studio in a space as small as an
office cubicle - for a fraction of the cost of currently available systems.
Both of these product lines leverage NaturalPoint's patented optical motion
tracking technology to offer a level of affordable precision unmatched by
any other company's offerings.
Visitors to NaturalPoint's public booth can experience the benefits of
using the TrackIR 4:PRO in the latest games and simulations to complement
existing controllers. Look into turns and check your mirrors with head
movement, while both hands grip your racing wheel in GTR2. Lean in your
chair to see around struts in Flight Simulator X, and turn your head to
enjoy the virtual scenery, to perfectly complement your mastery of the
joystick. In ArmA: Combat Operations, TrackIR brings an intense level of
immersion to the classic FPS keyboard and mouse combo - by letting you peek
around corners without exposing your entire body, and enabling real time
head shakes and nods in multiplayer for silent communication with squad
mates.
Those producing 3D animations for games will also be able to enjoy a
hands on demonstration of the OptiTrack line of products and accessories.
NaturalPoint's software tools for Point Cloud, Rigid Body, Full Body motion
capture are scheduled to begin rolling out this summer. This system is set
to become a disruptive force in the motion capture market thanks to a very
affordable price point coupled with a scalable number of OptiTrack cameras.
GDC 2007 will be the first time that anyone will be able to walk up and
freely explore OptiTrack's software features and test the fidelity of
NaturalPoint's cutting edge cameras.
NaturalPoint's President and CTO, Jim Richardson, will offer
presentations in a private meeting room to demonstrate the full advantage
of true 6DOF input, discuss what's coming next for both PC and console
gaming, and explore partnership opportunities with headset and joystick
manufacturers. Private meetings can be arranged by appointment, or by
visiting NaturalPoint's public booth (654 WH).
