SM&A Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Contract to Provide Software and IT Services to Support Earth Science Research

             5-year contract has potential value of $6.75 million

    NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- SM&A Corporation
(Nasdaq: WINS), a leading IT systems solutions provider, was awarded a
scientific and technical services subcontract with a potential value of
$6.75 million from Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) of Lanham,
Md.  The award was the result of a successful proposal by the SSAI/SM&A team
to NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center's Earth Sciences Directorate, Climate and
Radiation Branch.  SM&A's Systems Solutions Group (SSG), Space Sciences
Division will perform the work.
    SM&A will deliver IT services over the life of the five-year contract,
including:  software development, data management, network administration
services and modeling.  SM&A will also provide scientific analysis.
    Commenting on the award, SM&A President and Chief Operating Officer

the new contract, SM&A will support research in scientific algorithms for
processing data from the Terra satellite, launched in December 1999, and
modeling to improve understanding of regional and global climates for the NASA
Earth Observing System (EOS) program.  SM&A scientists will work with NASA and
SSAI on field campaigns to validate data products from current spacecraft
instruments, and develop remote sensing techniques for future space missions.
