Owens Corning Files Shelf Registration Statement on Form S-3 With the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

   Replaces Existing Form S-3 Registration Statement for the Same Purpose

    TOLEDO, Ohio, Feb. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Owens Corning (NYSE:
OC) today announced that it has filed a shelf registration statement on
Form S-3 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, providing for
the secondary sale, from time to time, of currently issued and outstanding
shares of the company's common stock. The new registration statement, which
takes advantage of the company's status as a Well Known Seasoned Issuer
(WKSI), replaces an existing Form S-3 registration statement for the same
purpose.

    Under the shelf process, one or more of the selling stockholders to be
named in a prospectus supplement may offer and sell, from time to time,
shares of the company's common stock. All shares covered by the shelf
registration statement are currently issued and outstanding. Owens Corning
would not receive any proceeds from any offering covered by the shelf
registration statement.
