Bank of Commerce Opens Three New Loan Offices

    SAN DIEGO, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Bank of Commerce (Nasdaq: BCOM) today
announced it has opened three new loan production offices (LPOs) as an SBA
Preferred Lender serving Chicago, Albuquerque and Spokane.  The expansion
marks three new market areas for Bank of Commerce, in addition to the offices
in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Fresno Salt Lake City, and
Atlanta, opened during 1998.
    "Our strategy continues to be identifying markets with an inherent demand
for small business lending expertise and to aggressively open new offices with
established, top-producing lending professionals," said David H. Bartram,
senior executive vice president.  "We are scheduled to open in Boise in
January and have received SBA authorization to operate in several new market
areas, which will allow us to expand our presence in the Southeast and Midwest
during 1999."
    Based in San Diego, Bank of Commerce now operates 22 loan offices in
11 states.  The Chicago and Spokane offices operate as Commerce Loan Co., a
Division of Bank of Commerce.  The Albuquerque office will operate as Bank of
Commerce.  Bank of Commerce and Commerce Loan Co. specialize in SBA guaranteed
commercial real estate loans for owner-users and operates as a Preferred
Lender.  Preferred lenders directly approve loans on behalf of the SBA
resulting in better service, faster loan approvals and quicker disbursement of
funds.
