Market leader in diagnostics systems for the automotive and transport
industries to demonstrate its remote vehicle diagnostics services using
the Java-based Open Telematics Framework by ACUNIA
BRUSSELS, Belgium and MANCHESTER, United Kingdom, March 1 /PRNewswire/ --
Belgium and U.S.-based leading telematics technology provider ACUNIA (formerly
known as SmartMove) and GenRad (NYSE: GEN) today announced a collaborative
venture to establish a demonstration architecture for remote vehicle
diagnostics services.
GenRad will use the ACUNIA Service Development Kit to develop and
implement its "all-vehicle makes" remote diagnostics services for vehicles
with an Open Telematics Framework-enabled telematics platform.
Remote vehicle diagnostics electronics permit the monitoring of a car or
truck's performance while on the road. This could include measurements of
fluid levels and engine temperature, brake system analysis, electrical circuit
operation, and other critical parameters that determine proper vehicle system
functions.
ACUNIA is well-known as the developer of the Open Telematics Framework
(OTF), the first fully functional, end-to-end, Java-based open software system
to deliver telematic services. The OTF has won industry acclaim because it
can be upgraded remotely to add services and accommodate new technologies.
"Using our Service Development Kit, we offer GenRad a flexible and future-
proof way to deliver diagnostics services on all vehicles equipped with the
next generation telematics infrastructure," said Steven Buytaert, ACUNIA
co-CEO. "The partnership with GenRad is further evidence that our business
model and innovative products are winning more and more industry acclaim."
ACUNIA's design establishes three levels in the telematics architecture
and integrates the software solution for each into a standard framework that
is capable of downloading services and transporting data over an entire range
of existing and future communication networks.
The ACUNIA Service Development Kit is a set of software tools that allow
Service Providers to quickly and easily create, adapt and manage their
services. They can register and operate their services through the Java
Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that are part of the kit. These APIs
give them access to the Open Telematics Framework, the information pipeline to
the vehicle.
