Interpath Launches New Advanced Email Messaging Services for Businesses Based On Netscape Software

Interpath Email Customers Can Now Get Managed Email Services With
Greater Functionality - At a Lower Cost

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Interpath Communications
Incorporated, a fast growing Network Application Services Provider (NASP), and
Netscape Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: NSCP) today announced that
Interpath is offering its rapidly-growing customer base managed business class
email services using Netscape Messaging solutions.
Interpath is leveraging Netscape(R) Messaging Server Hosting Edition and
Netscape(R) Directory Server software to provide network administrators with a
reliable and scalable enterprise message system based on the emerging Internet
Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
directory standards.
By deploying the full functionality of the Netscape Messaging Server
Hosting Edition, Interpath has become one of the first service providers to
offer its customers the benefits of the IMAP4 email standard. IMAP4 email
offers a rich feature set specifically developed to meet business needs,
including the ability to selectively access messages and shared folders from
any location.
"Managing two fast-moving and very successful businesses is a real
challenge," said Doug Abrams, a trial lawyer for Twiggs, Abrams, Strickland
& Trehy and co-founder of Indoor Storm, one of the largest, progressive online
music stores. "I send and receive hundreds of email messages a day, and
Interpath Email makes it easier for me to manage all my correspondence using
the functionality of the IMAP4 protocol. Now I can store messages on the
server and keep them organized in folders that I can access from anywhere."
"Interpath chose Netscape's hosting solutions to provide a standards-based
and scalable messaging infrastructure that would allow us to deliver
carrier-class messaging and directory services in business environments," said
Michael Fox, general manager of Interpath's Information Services Division.
"We plan to leverage this architecture to offer enhanced messaging services
like integrated voice mail and fax, Webmail, distributed email administration
and corporate directory services."
Managed messaging services enables customers to streamline the building
and maintenance of an advanced communications system to help them stay
competitive. Customers can outsource the deployment and management of their
messaging solutions to a service provider, which is significantly cheaper than
the cost of running the service internally. Professionals can instead
concentrate on building their core business.
"Information and Communications Service Providers are looking for powerful
software solutions to enhance the quality of their online service-provider
business and compete in the Net Economy," said Korak Mitra, vice president of
hosting solutions at Netscape. "Netscape Messaging solutions are providing
Interpath with flexibility to enhance its proven directory-enabled messaging
offering with new value-added services for its customers."
Interpath's Netscape-based hosted messaging services eliminate surprises
by combining the latest communications technology with a predictable cost
model and reliable service and support, available 24 hours per day, seven days
per week. Interpath already is upgrading its systems to Netscape Messaging
Server Hosting Edition version 4.0 in order to expand their communications
offerings.
Netscape Messaging Server 4.0 Hosting Edition provides dial-tone quality
IMAP support that enables highly scalable and reliable messaging for millions
of users. The combination of Netscape Messaging Server 4.0 and the high
performance Netscape Directory Server offers enterprise-class reliability,
extranet-ready security features and advanced user and group administration.
