New version of industry-leading CAE toolkit introduces a unique
integration of all solvers, new valvetrain design tool, redesigned Java-based
GUI
DETROIT, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- SAE World Congress -- Gamma Technologies
Inc. (GTI), the maker of GT-POWER, today unveiled the newest Version 6.0 of
GT-SUITE, the automotive industry's de facto standard Integrated Simulation
toolkit for engine and powertrain design and analysis. Since its initial
launch in 1996, GT-SUITE has been adopted by over 160 engine manufacturers and
engineering firms including the Big Three automakers, Daimler-Benz, BMW, PSA,
Toyota, Nissan, FEV Motorentechnik, SWRI, MAN Trucks and Detroit Diesel.
Version 6.0 of GT-SUITE is being demonstrated by GTI at this week's 2003 SAE
World Congress in Detroit (Booth # 1126).
"The auto industry trend is to move towards integrated system simulations.
In response to this, GTI has developed GT-SUITE, and the release of Version
6.0 is a big step in enabling such simulations at sharply lower costs", said
Dr. Thomas Morel, President & Founder of Gamma Technologies Inc. "The
industry's response tells us that we are on the right track, as a large
percentage of our customers have already upgraded from GT-POWER to the
complete GT-SUITE package."
New Features & Technical Capabilities
GT-SUITE 6.0 has been under development by GTI since early 2002,
incorporating wide-ranging inputs from, and cooperative projects with, a
number of engine manufacturers. The main focus of the effort of this version
was the enabling of integrated system-level simulations. The result of this
ambitious development program has been the introduction of a number of new
features and technical capabilities in the product.
These include:
-- There is now a single executable, which contains all GT-SUITE solvers
(GT-POWER, GT-COOL, GT-FUEL, GT-DRIVE, GT-VTRAIN, and GT-CRANK).
Integration between solvers provides enhanced system-modeling
capabilities. For example, one can study engine recoil (torsional block
vibrations) and its secondary effect on cylinder thermodynamics and
engine performance (see Paper 2003-01-0372 presented on Tuesday,
March 4, 1:30 p.m, Room D2-08). Also, soon to be released, is the
capability to run a coupled simulation of GT-POWER with GT-FUEL to help
optimize a diesel combustion system.
-- A brand-new GT-ISE graphical user interface and GT-POST postprocessor,
written in Java. These new tools have been designed to be more
adaptable to the growing needs of users. For example: GT-ISE's new
subassembly concept totally integrates internal subassemblies with the
main model, structured as a multi-page document, allowing storage of a
multitude of subassemblies within one file, for improved data
organization and for data sharing with other users.
-- A new library of thermal components provides the capability to build
models of thermal networks (lumped mass elements or FE models) and to
integrate these with existing flow components
-- A new valvetrain design tool VT-DESIGN provides a cam design
functionality, plus full valvetrain kinematics running interactively,
with scale view of the mechanism, and animation of its motion
-- GT-Power RT can now be coupled with Opal-RT's RT-LAB to perform
real-time (hardware-in-the-loop) testing.
-- The PC-version of Star-CD is added to the list of supported CFD
platforms (see release dated March 3, 2003 - GT-POWER Coupled to PC
Version of Star-CD)
About Gamma Technologies Inc.
Gamma Technologies Inc. (http://www.gtisoft.com) develops and licenses
GT-SUITE - an integrated suite of CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) software
tools. GT-SUITE, which incorporates GT-Power, is the first true "virtual
engine / powertrain / vehicle" simulation tool. The product makes it possible
for engineering professionals to model engine performance, vehicle dynamics,
valvetrain dynamics, cooling systems, fuel injection systems, and cranktrain
dynamics. GT-SUITE's ease-of-use is further enhanced by integration with
third party products such as STAR-CD, Fluent, Simulink and Frontier. For more
