dSPACE Shows Automotive Systems Innovations at SAE Congress, SAE Booth #1601, March 3-6, 2003

DETROIT, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Innovations in electronics technology for
engineering development processes are being demonstrated at the 2003 SAE World
Congress and Exposition, March 3-6 by dSPACE, a German-based high-technology
company with its North American head office in Novi, Michigan.
A market leader and innovator in solutions and systems for development of
embedded electronic controllers, dSPACE provides hardware, software and
engineering support services for controller testing, prototyping control
algorithms, and automatic production code generation. In its SAE exhibit at
booth #1601, the company will have five demonstrations on the dSPACE product
line in various applications:
    1. Virtual Vehicle Dynamics Simulator - a new system test simulator that
combines standard, off-the-shelf hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators to
enable simultaneous testing of engine, transmission, and vehicle stability
systems' electronic controllers and their interactions. The new simulator
features dSPACE's real-time 3D animation software tool, MotionDesk.
    2. AutomationDesk - This new software product is being shown for the
first time. It provides a convenient way of describing tests using a highly
efficient graphical sequence builder. It includes a Project Manager that
makes it easy to organize the handling of large test projects as well as a
library containing a wide range of automation functions.
    3. TargetLink - is an automatic and highly efficient production code
generation software tool that reduces the overall software development cycle
for electronic control units (ECUs).
    4. MicroAutoBox - a real-time in-vehicle hardware platform that performs
fast, functional prototyping of control software. The demonstration showcases
bypass technology that enables new software to be developed in parallel with
an existing ECU.
    5. The dSPACE Calibration System - a product line being developed to
address a new market area for dSPACE. It is a solution for the optimization
of ECU parameters for both in-vehicle and test bed calibration. New software
called "CalDesk" offers the ability to measure and analyze ECU internal
variables simultaneously with external electrical signals, while providing a
means to adjust ECU calibration parameters on-demand. CalDesk was
specifically designed to seamlessly integrate into the dSPACE tool chain yet
be flexible enough to easily integrate into an OEM's existing process.

"dSPACE provides an optimal mix of standard solutions and customer-
specific engineering," said Kevin Kott, president of dSPACE, Inc. "We can
help mechatronic system manufacturers shorten software development time while
improving system reliability with real-time systems for controller
prototyping, automatic production code generation, virtual system tests, and
soon -- calibration."
dSPACE is a market innovator and leading producer of engineering tools for
embedded controller development and testing. It provides integrated hardware
and software for prototyping control algorithms, automatic generation of
production code, controller testing, and engineering support services. dSPACE
systems enable manufacturers of controllers and ECUs to dramatically reduce
their development times and costs to noticeably increase product quality.
Founded in 1988, dSPACE has its headquarters in Paderborn, Germany, and
engineering project centers in Munich and Stuttgart, Germany. In addition to
its Novi, MI, subsidiary, the company has subsidiaries in France and the
United Kingdom, and representatives worldwide. Today, more than 9,000 dSPACE
systems are in use worldwide, serving customers in the automotive, aerospace,
agricultural, educational, engineering, robotics and noise & vibration
industries. More information is available on the Internet at
