ATLANTA, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP,
announced today that James J. McAlpin, Jr. has succeeded Armin G. Brecher as
Firm Chair. Mr. McAlpin was elected at a meeting of the partners held on
Tuesday, August 12, 2003 to assume office when Mr. Brecher's term expired in
March 2004.
Mr. McAlpin has served in a number of leadership positions in the Firm,
most recently as the Chair of the Corporate and Technology Department and as a
member of the Firm's Executive Committee. He joined the Firm in 1985 and was
the youngest member to be elected to the Firm's Board of Partners, the Firm's
governing body, in 1997. He previously led the Firm's Business Transactions
and Corporate Finance Practice and has chaired the Firm's Compensation
Committee.
McAlpin, 45, is a double graduate from the University of Alabama,
receiving his undergraduate degree in 1981 and his J.D. in 1984. He is
actively involved in the Association for Corporate Growth (and is a past-
President of the Atlanta Chapter), as well as the Atlanta Venture Forum, the
Carter Center Board of Councilors and various banking associations.
At a meeting of the Firm's partners on March 3, 2004, Rick Miller, Scott
Sorrels and Jerry Breed were elected to the Board of Partners, the Firm's
governing body, to serve along with Karen Wildau, William Custer, Allen Rugg
and William Shearer.
