NXN Software's New Product Extensions Identify
'The Way Game Production Ought To Be' for Project and Studio Managers
LOS ANGELES, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- NXN Software, the leading supplier of
Digital Production Management (DPM) systems for the interactive entertainment,
animation and new media industries, will come to this year's Game Developer's
Conference (GDC) in San Jose with a lineup of product extensions for its
premier DPM software, NXN alienbrain(R) 5.O that enhance project management,
studio management and bug-tracking functionality.
"In 2001, the industry produced some of the most complex game titles ever,
forcing managers to find even more effective ways of controlling their
projects," said Gregor vom Scheidt, chief executive officer (CEO), NXN
Software. "NXN's new extensions for NXN alienbrain are designed to address
that challenge by helping managers gain more insight into their processes and
providing an immediate return on investment for today's high-end productions."
Show attendees will be able to check out NXN Software's lineup of new
product extensions, which truly define "The Way Game Production Ought To Be"
for project and studio managers.
PMX Improves Project Tracking
NXN alienbrain PMX (Project Management Extension) is a comprehensive
project planning, scheduling and tracking system based on an integration
between NXN alienbrain and MS(R) Project(R) (both version 2000 and 2002). It
allows project managers to maintain multiple project plans per team, associate
media assets with tasks, distribute tasks through NXN alienbrain and monitor
task completion and project progress in real time.
SMX for Increased Productivity of Multiple Teams
The NXN alienbrain SMX (Studio Management Extension) provides up-to-date
reports about the status and content of all development projects in a studio
that use NXN alienbrain Team Productivity Servers for production and asset
management. The information is accessible through a standard Web browser
without installing additional software, and it can be viewed from within the
studio or made accessible over the Internet. Benefits of using NXN alienbrain
SMX include increased productivity through the ability to view which users and
user groups are generating the most content, who is making the majority of
changes and when peaks and troughs of content generation occur.
BMX Integrates Bug Tracking in Project Workflow
Also featured at the booth will be a version of the NXN alienbrain BMX
(Bug Management Extension), which provides comprehensive and fully-integrated
defect and request management for digital entertainment projects. Teams are
able to submit, store, delegate, track and resolve bugs, feature requests and
development tasks directly as part of the team workflow in NXN alienbrain.
NXN alienbrain BMX ensures complete quality control and optimum resource usage
through meaningful summary reports.
In addition, Gregor vom Scheidt, founder and CEO of NXN, is hosting a
panel session at GDC entitled, "Running a Digital Entertainment Studio with
NXN alienbrain" on Thursday, March 21 from 2:30-3:30pm in room C4 of the San
Jose Convention Center. The speaking event will also include a short case
study from David Schwartz, vice president of content development at
WildTangent. David will discuss how WildTangent uses NXN alienbrain to run
multiple concurrent projects, as well as provide a glimpse of their recent
"Spiderman" production.
Information and product demonstrations are available in the NXN Software
booth #1626 at the San Jose Convention Center throughout the show.
