PLYMOUTH, Mich., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ADVICS Co., Ltd., a Japan-based
joint venture between Aisin Seiki, Denso Corporation, Sumitomo Electric
Industries and Toyota Motor Corporation, has launched a wholly owned
subsidiary to market brake components and systems in North America. Called
ADVICS North America, Inc., the company is headquartered in Plymouth, Mich.,
and will commence operations in April 2002.
In a news conference held jointly by the four partners at the Society of
Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress and Exposition, Masahide Kato,
president, ADVICS North America, said: "Our global expertise in brake systems
and the individual strengths of our joint partners ensures a growing presence
in this very important marketplace. We will approach business with the same
'Customer First' attitude that has made us a leader in the industry."
The new company will develop and market brake components and systems such
as anti-lock brakes, traction control systems and stability control systems to
the North American marketplace.
Sales in North America for ADVICS Co., Ltd., are currently $240 million.
Through the formation of the new company and a more concerted effort to
penetrate the North American marketplace, ADVICS North America expects to
double this business to $500 million by 2005.
