E.piphany Remains Sole 'Leader' Quadrant Vendor
In E-Marketing Magic Quadrant for Third Consecutive Report
SAN MATEO, Calif., March 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
E.piphany (Nasdaq: EPNY) today announced that it has been listed in the
"leader" quadrant in two Gartner CRM Magic Quadrant research notes released in
February 2003. For the third consecutive year, E.piphany was placed as the
sole "leader" in the E-Marketing Magic Quadrant and has remained the only
leader since the report's inception. E.piphany also retained its position as
the only CRM suite vendor to be placed in the "leader" on Gartner's Customer
Relationship Optimization (CRO) Magic Quadrant. Gartner Magic Quadrants
provide a snapshot of how vendors perform in relation to each other, and gauge
where the overall market is headed to help customers make better-informed
purchasing decisions.

"The implications for leader quadrant positioning are powerful," said
Phil Fernandez, executive vice president of products and marketing at
E.piphany. "We continue to set the pace for marketing leadership by
demonstrating product innovation and traction with name-brand clients across
key verticals. Companies in this economy want sophisticated solutions to
intelligently market and sell what's relevant to their diverse customer bases.
E.piphany continues to chart new directions in CRM, and our ability to
effectively address this need has prompted the entire industry to rethink the
way technology can seamlessly coordinate inbound and outbound channels for a
consistent customer experience and more effective marketing practices."
With a strong heritage in marketing and analytics, E.piphany customers
across all industries using the E.piphany E.6(TM) CRM software suite for
marketing, sales and service have benefited from reduced costs, top-line
revenue growth, increased campaign velocity, improved targeting, increased
functionality from existing systems, and more effective cross-channel
campaigns.
E.piphany underwent a rigorous and thorough evaluation by Gartner to
determine its placement on the Magic Quadrants, which are comprised of
Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries and Niche Players. As a leader in both
quadrants, E.piphany was recognized both for its ability to execute and
completeness of vision. When defining "Leaders," Gartner states:
"Enterprises should consider a leader when financial and market execution are
important, usually also associated with strong partnerships with
implementation companies. Leaders are steps ahead of the competition in most
functionalities, and they have a clear vision for the future of the market"

2003]. E.piphany was evaluated and placed in the leader quadrant position in
the following Magic Quadrants:

should not be deemed to be an endorsement of any company or product depicted
in the quadrant. The Magic Quadrant is Gartner's opinion and is an analytical
representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures
vendors against Gartner-defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of
vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many
factors. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the
Leaders segment. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or
Niche Player segments may be the right match for an enterprise's requirements.
Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic
Quadrant. Gartner research is intended to be one of many information sources
