Dr. Michael L. Myrick to Chair Symposium Discussing Integrated Sensing and
Processing at the World's Largest, Most Comprehensive Conference for
Laboratory Science
NEW ORLEANS, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Michael L. Myrick, chief
scientist of spectroscopy innovator Ometric Corporation, will chair a
session at Pittcon Conference and Expo 2008 in New Orleans, the world's
largest and most comprehensive conference and exposition for laboratory
science. The Thursday, March 6th symposium will cover the topic of
"Integrated Sensing and Processing" with a talk discussing Multivariate
Optical Computing(TM), a process developed by Myrick and his research team
at the Columbia-based Ometric Corporation.

"The purpose of ISP in analytical chemistry is to improve the speed and
precision of a chemical measurement. The field has been spread over several
disciplines from statistics to physics with the overall theme only emerging
in the last few years, so the symposium will touch on three core
components: theoretical analysis, classical experimental work and the use
of coherent and quantum techniques for chemical sensing," explains Myrick.
"I'm thrilled to be chairing a session discussing such an innovative, new
topic and hope that it will be as educational and interesting for attendees
as it is for my colleagues and me."
About PITTCON
Pittcon is the premier annual conference and exposition on laboratory
science. Proceeds from Pittcon fund science education and outreach at all
levels, kindergarten through adult. Pittcon donates nearly a million
dollars each year in the form of science equipment grants, research grants,
scholarships and internships for students, awards to teachers and
professors, and grants to public science centers, libraries and museums.
