IGDA Presents Game Developers Choice Awards Metroid Prime Takes Game of the Year

    SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The International Game
Developers Association (IGDA) named recipients of the Game Developers Choice
Awards last night at the 3rd annual ceremony during the 2003 Game Developers
Conference (GDC).  The Oscars of games, the Choice Awards are true peer
recognition honors, as all nominees and recipients are voted on free of
charge, by professional game developers.  The evening event celebrates
creativity and artistry as well as technological genius.
    "A Game Developers Choice Award is a stamp of excellence and innovation,"
said IGDA chairperson Graeme Devine of id Software.  "These titles and
developers have the cachet among the game insiders."

    3rd Annual Game Developer's Choice Awards recipients are:

    Game of the Year

    Original Game Character of the Year
    Sly Cooper from SLY COOPER AND THE THIEVIUS RACCOONUS by Sucker Punch

    Rookie Studio of the Year

    Jack Grillo, Rebecca Hanck, Erik Kraber and Yuan Liu for sound effects in
MEDAL OF HONOR: ALLIED ASSAULT

    Excellence in Game Design
    Romain de Waubert de Genlis, Ola Holmdahl, Johan Persson and Niklas
Persson for game design in BATTLEFIELD 1942

    Excellence in Level Design
    Metroid Team for level design in METROID PRIME

    Excellence in Programming
    Mark Brockington, Scott Greig, Jason Knipe, Don Moar and Don Yakielashek
