Durakon to Provide Cargo Covers and Side Storage Boxes for Next Generation of Chevrolet Avalanche

Renewal of Contract Reaffirms Durakon's Value to GM Trucks

LAPEER, Mich., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Durakon Industries, a leading
provider of thermoformed products and paint film technology to the automotive
industry, today announced that General Motors awarded Durakon as the exclusive
supplier of twin-sheet, thermoformed cargo cover systems and side storage
boxes for the redesigned 2007 M.Y. Chevrolet Avalanche which will be
introduced mid-2006 C.Y.
"We are very excited that General Motors has selected us to continue our
highly successful partnership," said Ed Gniewek, Chief Executive Officer of
Durakon. "This contract reaffirms the value General Motors associates with
Durakon and the important contributions that our cargo management systems have
made to the ongoing success of the Avalanche. We are proud to be associated
with this exciting vehicle."
Durakon has supplied twin-sheet, thermoformed cargo covers and side
storage boxes to General Motors for the Chevrolet Avalanche program since
2001. To accommodate the growth for these products, Durakon built a state-of-
the-art manufacturing facility in Lerma, Mexico dedicated to manufacturing
these cargo management systems for the Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT
programs.
"Our investment in the Lerma facility ensures that it is one of the most
efficient and advanced manufacturing plants in the industry," said Len Damico,
Durakon's Vice President of OEM Sales. "We look forward to continuing to
provide high quality thermoformed cargo covers and side storage boxes for this
new generation of General Motors' trucks."
Durakon's twin-sheet, thermoformed cargo covers and side storage boxes are
manufactured using Durakon's advanced thermoforming process, which the company
pioneered in the late 1990's. Durakon is one of the world's largest and most
successful thermoformers of cargo management systems and the company's
thermoformed products have been extremely well received by the automotive
industry. Durakon thermoformed cargo covers have been praised for their
enhanced security, structural integrity, light weight, durability, and general
appearance. They also help improve fuel economy by reducing the vehicle's
coefficient of drag. Durakon thermoformed products have recently won
prestigious awards from the Society of Plastic Engineers for achievements in
new technology introductions and advanced materials developments, and from
Frost & Sullivan for consumer perceptions relating to functionality,
aesthetics and durability.
