SAN FRANCISCO, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic
Components, Inc. (TAEC)* today announced that its TB31262F radio-frequency
integrated circuit (RFIC) was chosen by Nebo Wireless LLC, a
Massachusetts-based developer and manufacturer of wireless Internet
applications. Nebo Wireless used the TB31262F to enable the Nebo Wireless
Link, an innovative wireless PC modem extender for dialup Internet
applications. TAEC will be featuring the Nebo Wireless Link in its booth at
the Embedded Systems Conference being held here this week.
"We are pleased with the quality and reliability of the Toshiba TB31262F
single-chip RFIC that we use in our recently released Wireless Link product.
It enables us to provide a very simple and user-friendly wireless Internet
connection between a computer and a telephone jack. We are also extremely
happy with the support and help provided by TAEC. We were able to obtain
considerable technical information and assistance, including a demo board and
a prototype evaluation system, in a timely manner to expedite the development
time," stated Dr. Ernie Lin, president and CEO of Nebo Wireless.
"The flexibility of moving their computer practically anywhere in or near
their home or anywhere they are traveling to access dialup Internet service is
very convenient for our customers. They no longer need to have wires
connected from their computer to their telephone jack," Dr Lin continued.
"The demand for our product has been extremely good. We are very proud of our
supply relationship with TAEC and the performance of their components."
The Toshiba TB31262F, a single-chip RFIC for ISM-band 900MHz cordless
telephone applications, offers a high level of integration and thereby reduces
external parts count. Built-in functionality includes a low-noise amplifier;
mixer; differential voltage-controlled oscillator, variable capacitor
(transmit and receive) and doubler; power amplifier, phase-locked loop; four
audio amplifiers comprised of pre-amp, receiver-amp, mic-amp and speaker-amp;
and a range of power-down modes. It is housed in a small QFP 52-pin package
with a 0.65mm pitch.
"We are pleased that Nebo Wireless selected the cost-effective, highly
integrated Toshiba TB31262F RFIC. The RFIC's high level of RF integration
eased product development and contributed to the manufacturability and
reliability of the end product," said Andrew Burt, director of the Wireless
Business Unit at TAEC. "As the integration levels and associated design
challenges of RFICs increase, we've grown our level of customer support
commensurately to include module development, demo boards, evaluation kits and
reference designs to help customers meet short market windows."
