Avon Products, Inc. Announces Its Celebration of International Women's Day

Commemorating 150 years of Women's Progress in the World, and Celebrating
                            Hope for the Future

NEW YORK, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Avon Products, Inc. announces its
campaign to commemorate International Women's Day, a holiday with roots
tracing back 150 years. In honor of the great strides women have made, and
with the hope that even greater ones will be made in the future, Avon is
launching a multi-platform initiative to raise global awareness of this
important milestone and call attention to women's issues worldwide.
Avon's International Women's Day initiatives are dedicated to achieving
a "better tomorrow" for all women and celebrating Avon's commitment to
empowering women. These programs are launching in concert with the
company's new advertising initiative themed Hello Tomorrow.
"At Avon, we believe that the single-most effective way to improve
society and change the world is by helping to improve the lives of women
everywhere, said Andrea Jung, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avon
Products, Inc. "Since the company was founded 120 years ago, our mission
has been to empower women from all walks of life and help them create
better 'tomorrows' for themselves and their families."
Below is a description of each of Avon's initiatives surrounding the
commemoration of International Women's Day.
Avon Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow
The inaugural Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow, presented by the
Virtue Foundation in partnership with Avon, and co-sponsored by UNICEF,
UNIFEM, and UN-DESA, is a gathering of the foremost voices on the concerns
facing women in the world today. The Summit will take place in Conference
Room 1 at the United Nations on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, the eve of
International Women's Day. Invited speakers include heads of each of the
partnering and supporting organizations, as well as remarks from Andrea
Jung, CEO and Chairman of Avon Products, Inc., and a keynote speech from
Dr. Shashi Tharoor, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for
Communications and Public Information, as well as participation from
highly-respected members of the media Sara James (Dateline NBC) and Alexis
Glick (Fox News Channel).
Celebrity guests scheduled to lend their voices include recent Academy
Award winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) and actress Melina Kanakaredes
(CSI: New York). The Summit will also feature the stories of ordinary women
throughout the world who have made extraordinary progress for themselves
and other women.
2007 Avon Worldwide Women's Poll and Empowerment Index
In partnership with GFK Roper, one of the world's premier research
organizations, Avon commissioned the first annual Worldwide Women's Poll
and Empowerment Index. The results of the Index will be announced at the
Summit. The Index is a report of women in 16 countries, representing all of
the major regions of the world, both developed and developing, to highlight
and gauge advancement in six major areas of interest: Education,
Employment, Economic Independence, Personal Safety, Health, and Political
Participation. The Avon Worldwide Women's Poll and Empowerment Index was
designed both to highlight women's progress in the past century and to
emphasize what more needs to be done for the future.
                         The Avon Hello Tomorrow Fund
In conjunction with The Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow, Avon
announces the Hello Tomorrow Fund, a major philanthropic program which will
bestow $5,000 a week to help deserving individuals fulfill their dreams of
creating a better tomorrow for women. Winners will be selected by an expert
panel comprised of notable figures, philanthropic leaders and heads of
business. Applications must fit within one of three central empowerment
areas: awareness and outreach, business development, and community service,
and will be accepted beginning on March 8, 2007. The first award will be
given the week of April 16, 2007. In addition to the March 7th launch of
the Hello Tomorrow Fund in the United States, Avon will be implementing
similar programs globally in 18 countries. Applications and additional
information are viewable at http://www.Avon.com/HelloTomorrowFund.
    About International Women's Day
In 1857, female factory workers in New York City's garment district
protested against their working conditions, creating the first documented
celebration of female empowerment that would grow to become International
Women's Day. In 1975, the United Nations began an official celebration of
the holiday, commemorated annually on March 8th. It is a holiday that is
observed by many of the nations of the world. Some of the events taking
place in other countries include: panel discussions on key women's issues,
rallies, marches, and demonstrations, fund-raisers, and festivals
celebrating women's contributions to society.
