MAGMA(TM) Product Line Unveils Its First PMC to PCI Expansion System at the
Embedded Systems Conference
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mobility Electronics,
Inc. (Nasdaq: MOBE), a leading provider of innovative portable power and
computing solutions for the mobile electronic device user, announced today the
release of the PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) to PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) Expansion System.
Designed and built by Mobility Electronics' MAGMA Product Line, the PMC to
PCI Expansion System is a 7 Slot 64-bit/33 MHz PCI Expansion System with PMC
interface to enable communications between any standard-based PMC module and
the 7 Slot 64-bit/33 MHz PCI Expansion System. It allows users of standard
PMC-based systems to extend their performance with PCI-based applications,
increasing productivity and capability while reducing the cost of mezzanine
I/O expansion cards. The new system also broadens the usage of MAGMA's
existing 7 Slot 64-bit/33 MHz PCI Expansion System from solely PCI-based
systems to include PMC-based systems.
The PMC to PCI Expansion System is compliant with the following industry
standards:
* IEEE Std 1386-2001, IEEE Standard for a Common Mezzanine Card Family
* IEEE Std 1386.1-2001, IEEE Standard Physical and Environmental
Layers for PCI Mezzanine Cards
* PCI Specifications
"By extending the capability offering of the PCI Expansion System with PMC
interface, we are expanding our position as a leading innovator and provider
of hardware solutions," said Charlie Mollo, CEO of Mobility Electronics. "As
our customers continue to benefit from our world-class technology
advancements, we have significantly strengthened our ability to serve the
high-technology industry including embedded, aerospace and defense markets."
The complete PMC to PCI Expansion System, consisting of PMC Interface Host
Card, 7 Slot 64bit/33 MHz PCI expansion chassis, enhanced high fidelity
ferrite coated cable and mounting components, will be available in several
different form factors and packages, including:
* Tower with 300 Watt AC power supply
* Rackmount with 300 Watt AC power supply
* Rackmount with 400 Watt AC power supply
* Non-Enclosure
The PMC Host Card also will be available separately as an add-on or
upgrade. All products will be available this month at MAGMA (http://www.magma.com)
and through its resellers.
