BILLERICA, Mass., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Peritus Software Services, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: PTUS), a quality provider of software maintenance tools
and services, today announced the immediate availability of the RQE Workbench
tool for independent verification and validation (IV&V) of C and COBOL code
remediated for Year 2000 compliance. The RQE Workbench tool runs on an NT
workstation, and is priced per seat for unlimited usage. It appears to be the
first IV&V tool on the market capable of evaluating renovated ANSI C code.
"A year ago testing was the hot topic in Y2K. This year the buzz word is

Corporation in Framingham. "IV&V is important to assess the completeness and
accuracy of Y2K remediation efforts."
In addition to the new tool, Peritus is expanding the capabilities of
their IV&V Services. Peritus' RQE Service for COBOL was announced in May 1998.
With this new release, its service capabilities now include IV&V for C, IDMS,
DB2, and CICS, as well as certain RPG, PL/I, Assembler, Easytrieve, and Focus
programs.
RQE is designed to identify and report likely flaws in code renovated for
Year 2000 compliance, giving users an extra measure of confidence in the
accuracy of the renovation. It enables correction of errors whether it is used
before or after the test phase of the Year 2000 project. Both the RQE
Workbench tool and the RQE Service can evaluate a renovation regardless of the
tools or methods used.
